IN AN EMERGENCY

We know reaching out can be hard.

You’re tired, and you’re already carrying a lot. For many wāhine it isn’t about ending the relationship — you just want the violence to stop.

We can meet wherever feels safest to you — your place, your māmā’s, a friend’s, a café. Bring anyone you trust. If getting there is hard, we’ll come to you.

Thinking of Leaving?

Our kaupapa — ko wai mātou

Who we are.

Te Whare Herenga o Ngā Tāngata is a specialist kaupapa Māori family violence service and women's refuge in Tāmaki Makaurau. Our name speaks of a whare where people are held — a mooring place.

We are led by wāhine Māori and open to all wāhine and whānau. Everything we do is shaped by whakapapa, tikanga, and the belief that violence is not our culture.
